Irish Internet Radio and TV from Dublin, Ireland.

Hello everybody.

I want to tell you about the research I did about an Irish song I found on Youtube.

The song is called, 'Imigh le Gaoth' and it was published by a Youtube user.
I so much liked the song, that I repeatedly listened to it on Youtube

I wanted to find out more about the female singer and if the song was buyable on CD or online somewhere. A translation I would have liked too, to get what the song was all about.

Sadly I got no information, neither about the song, nor about the artist.
That seemed strange to me.
I searched all search engines on the web, social networks, Twitter, even the LiveIreland chat and what not, but failed to get any information.
To that day it seemed that this song was like a ghost.

So I decided to contact Irish media stations to ask for help.

I emailed TG4 and RTÉ and really think that I might get a reply.
Honestly I didn't expect a reply from them to that kind of question, but that was the last idea I had.

But suddenly I got an answer from RTÉ Info the other day.

They gave me a hint to contact Neansaí Ní Choisdealbha, a moderator from RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta.

I did follow that idea and contacted Neansaí Ní Choisdealbha via email.

She replied the same day and was able to tell me the correct name of the singer!
I was right with my concerns that the name on the Youtube video was wrong.
The tune I listened to on Youtube was recorded on a contest on the "Iris Aniar" programme on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, some years ago.

Neansaí could also tell me that the singer of that lovely song never recorded an album, what means that one can't buy the song on CD or so.
That means that I have to stick to the Youtube version.

I contacted the Youtube user and asked him to edit the artist name of the video he had released there, and two days later he contacted me back to thank me for the information.

He editied the name on his video and so I hope that when they maybe will do another contest on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta and maybe Áine will participate, she will get more attention with findable content from her.

Last but not least, here is the song I wrote this post about:

Imigh le Gaoth. A song by Áine Ní Dhroighneáin from Spiddal, Connemara.

Wow what a advenure. I'm sure this artist, if he or she find out about what you have done will be deeply touch by the way you like his song.

Thank for the link i will go and listen to it.

I know RTÉ and they are doiing a awesome job of promoting the irish culture. It seem it like the national tv like SRC or CBC here in Canada.

Thank you
Alexandre
