6 to 9 Irish time. I think you and London are on the same time. There right now it is 0 hours 21 minutes. Which means that 6 PM was about 6 hours ago which was 11 AM here in the US Central time zone.…

I think our uncommonly nice weather is over. It feels more like Ireland outside. Very damp, very overcast and a bit cool. I like it.

Dober dan my friend. With that, I have said about all the Serbo-Croat I know in one greeting. Back during the war in the 80’s I heard a news broadcast that talked about the terrible conditions in many hospitals there. They had too many wounded patients and not enough supplies to treat them. The UN Commission on Refugees was looking for other hospitals around the world to help with the wounded.
I was the director of public relations for a small hospital here in Kentucky. I spoke to the president… Continue

My father taught me how to tell a story, a good one.

I am a story teller. It is an art I learned from my late father. A magician in the late 30’s and early 40’s, he was part of what became known as the “tall grass magicians”, so named because they worked in the United States Midwest. He had a circuit through Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois that took him most of two years to complete. Deep in his heart he was a shy man but when he walked onto a stage in his tails and top hat he became the master showman. He held his audience enthralled as they waite… Continue

Thanks for beautiful thought of walking through the woods to a dinner party!! No heels, I gather, hehe.
My husband had his accident years before we got together. He was only aged 20 and I would have been 14. He was older than I.
I was smart for my age. We got along great. He was the brother of my sister's husband. Easy to meet up !! Family gatherings, weddings....
Thanks for the remembrance of Denis!

Hi back, just noticed you are from Kentucky. My husband was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. That is where he had his injury too. Small world.

Hi Schley,
I have been to Ireland three times. Once as a 13, spent 5 weeks there with my Mom's people in Galway. Had a blast. It was in 1974, my mom's relatives did not have electricity nor running water. So, for 5 weeks I washed my hair in the clear stream and dried it in the wind. Great! Bathroom situation, well, that did not exist, so I was glad I was a kid! My older sister, in her mid 20's hated it.
I am glad I experienced that life in my lifetime. It makes you appreciate what we have in the US. Other parts of Ireland had electric and running water but my Mom's family did not want it. So...? have no idea why?
Glad you sent a message. As for what I have done in my life, it only has been medical jobs. Now, I took a break and living a happy life taking care of fancy chicken breeds. I am a widow with two college aged boys. I would be happier if my husband did not pass away but...he did so.. He was in the Air Force, had an accident, was paralyzed, developed hep C from transfusions in the Air Force for his broken back. He passed away after a horribly gone wrong liver transplant. If I was a millionaire he would have gotten a better liver..but at the time with two small kids, everything just went bad. That's life.
