Profile

Hometown:
Chicago
Relationship Status:
Single
About Me:
My fifth and favorite drum is a 16" Hedwitschak Dragon Skin. Since I lean towards tonal playing, the wider diameter is easy to pull up a third. It's also good for bringing the drum under the guitar bass for a full session sound.
Favorite Music:
You're kidding, right?
Favorite TV Shows:
First the weather, then the news...
Currently Reading? (Books Magazines etc)
Yes, many.
Favourite Place?
Lake Michigan; that's right, near it, on it and in it.

Welcome to LI! I always scout around for musicians on here... I am the leader of the group 'General Musician Chat', and I reserve it just for musicians. Come check it out! How long have you been playing, do you write your own stuff? Talk to you later.

Eileen, Translating a song into Gaeilge can be very difficult except for fluent speakers. There is a translation forum and they may be willing to work on the translation for you. I've seen them go both ways, sometimes they'll do it and other times they won't and I suspect it's a matter of time. It can take up quite a bit of someones time to do a translation like that.
Anyway, here's the link http://www.irishgaelictranslator.com/translation/

I hope they help!
Ádh mór ort!

Eileen, welcome from another Chicago-area member of LI. I live in the far west burbs in South Elgin. My joke with friends is that no one seems to be surprised when I tell them that I am 40 miles out of the loop!

I love your comment on your favorite music. Good answer - it says everything!@

Do you play with a group anywhere in the Chicago area?

Eileen, a chuisle: Great to hear from you. I can't go tot the island either -- it's gonna take another couple of years paying down the debt. I am going to the Swannanoa gathering in North Carolina in July. I'll be doing banjo with John Carty, and singing with Aoife Clancy and Sean Keane. Don't know about the Bohemian Rhapsody thing. Sounds amusing, though. I got to see Eamon Murray last labor day in KC, and will see him again this year. I jammed with Bua last week -- Brian Hart is a good friend, and I'll be studying Irish with him this summer, and I'll also be teaching beginning bodhran -- we'll see how that goes. I sypathize with you about the knee, as I had to mine fixed after an accident in Ireland. My main advice is to work hard on getting your range of motion back ASAP. I'll let you know when I'm in Chicago -- maybe for a pint at Chief O'Neill's! Slan, a chara,

Tom
