Hi Tom!

Well Inishere is absolutely gorgeous at the moment which is a pity because I'm living in Dublin at the moment. It's lovely here too though!

It won't be long til the Craiceann week will be starting again. Will you be there?

Slan go foill!

Tom, a chara:
It's good to see your face again. I'm not able to go to Craiceann this year due to getting my right knee replaced 5-21, but I may be in good enough shape to finally make the Milwaukee School in August. While I recover, I look forward to spending some serious time on that devil of a hammered dulcimer (64 strings that beg for tuning as if they were hanging on a mandolin). Let me know if ye are ever in the Chicago-Milwaulkee area.
Do you know if there are any Irish Language translations for Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody? In class, there was much arguement on the grammar for the chorus, and I'm very interested in preserving the rhythm.

Tom, I noticed that you are from Missouri. I came from St. Joseph. I always enjoyed getting down in your neck of the woods. If I lived a little closer I would maybe do more camping there. (We live in the far west suburbs of Chicago - 40 miles out of the loop!). As it is, our vacations usually see us headed for Colorado.

I wasn't familiar with the bizarre humorous music you mentioned. I looked it up - sounds like fun. Are you familiar with Barry Louis Polisar? He is a children's musician, but his music is fun and pretty rowdy. I corrupted my kids with some of it and now I am planning to corrupt my 2 grandsons.

Sorry I don't get back to Missouri much or I would offer to situate you behind a pint.

Speaking of pints, I assume you know the great little tale of the Barroom Mouse? Just came across it the other day.

Hiya Martijn , I don't have a My Own Special -- that's Chrisian's special design. I have one that he custom made for me, 37 cm. with a beechwood shell and the dragonskin head. It sounds great, but I'd love one with a lambeg skin.

Thanks for the comment on the bodhran page !
So you have a My Own Special? Cool!
The reason why i bought the RWE is because i saw Rolf playing it at a gig in Holland and was amazed by the enormous tone difference he could get out of the drum.
At the time i was trying to decide which (tunable) bodhran i should buy and that gig convinced me.
I see that Christian and Jef (van den Broeck) are also on this site, it's a small world indeed!

Grtz,
Martijn

Hello Tom,

I had already a Hedwitschak (RWE) but now I've discovered the dragonskin (craiceann 2007). And I love it! I think I've found the best tippers for this drum so I'm a happy man. Will you go to the island this year?
